There are certain steps and guides on how to use it very well. I think my problem was that I knew most of them.
I also felt they could have been better ordered; sometimes some minor points were right in the middle of something really impactful. It is a powerful, emotional story of family, life and history. A GM/DM/ST (whoever runs the game) could live in the pages of Chapter Three for the duration of a dozen different storylines.
Chapters four and five are steeped in alternate magical systems, including a much desired spell-point system. Thus while not perfect as either a book of history or a biography, it is a very good combination of the two fields and thus is a recommended read.. As he writes near the end of the book: "I'll be reminded by every Armenian who reads this book that I am committing a shame by revealing the essential truth that in addition to being enduring, inventive, and ever faithful, we can be weak, quarrelsome, and so frightened that many of us
